MCAT

The MCAT, administered by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), is a standardized test required for admission to medical schools in the United States and Canada. It covers biology, biochemistry, chemistry, physics, psychology, sociology, and Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills (CARS). The total score ranges from 472 to 528, and the exam lasts approximately 7.5 hours, making it the longest and most knowledge-intensive among major study-abroad tests. For Chinese students, the MCAT not only tests academic reading and reasoning in English but also demands a solid foundation in science and pre-med coursework. Moreover, North American medical schools admit very few international students and have extremely high standards. The MCAT is best suited for applicants who have completed a pre-med undergraduate program in North America and are committed to a medical career there. Applying directly from China to North American medical schools is extremely challenging; it is essential to first confirm whether target schools accept international students. Score validity varies by institution (typically 2–3 years).
