International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a two-year high school diploma program offered by the International Baccalaureate Organization. It is widely recognized by universities globally (US, UK, Canada, Australia, Europe) and known for its holistic education approach. Students must take one course from each of six subject groups (including language and literature, language acquisition, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics, and the arts or an elective), each graded 1–7. Additionally, they complete the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) course, an Extended Essay (EE) of 4,000 words, and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS). The maximum total score is 45 (42 from six subjects + 3 core points). For Chinese students, the IBDP demands broad academic engagement, significant writing and project work (e.g., EE, internal assessments), and strong time management. It is highly valued and can earn university credit, making it ideal for well-rounded, self-motivated students targeting top global universities. Most elite universities require a total of 38–42+ and specific HL subject grades.
