GMAT Focus

The GMAT (current GMAT Focus Edition), administered by GMAC, is the most widely used standardized test for MBA and management master's programs (finance, accounting, business analytics, etc.). The Focus Edition consists of three sections: Data Insights, Verbal Reasoning, and Quantitative Reasoning, with a total score range of 205–805 and a duration of approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes. For Chinese test-takers, the math fundamentals are not difficult, but the questions are tricky and emphasize logical traps; Critical Reasoning (CR) in the Verbal section and Data Insights (reading charts + integrated reasoning) are key differentiators, testing logical analysis in a business context. Most business schools accept both GMAT and GRE, but top MBA programs still prefer the GMAT. It is recommended to set aside 2–3 months for focused preparation, and scores are valid for 5 years. The test emphasizes logic over rote memorization, making it suitable for applicants with strong logical thinking.
