Cambridge English Qualifications (C1 Advanced / C2 Proficiency)
Among Cambridge English Qualifications, C1 Advanced (formerly CAE) and C2 Proficiency (formerly CPE) are academic English certificates for advanced learners. They are accepted by many universities and employers in the UK and Europe, and the results are valid for life (unlike IELTS or TOEFL, which expire after two years). The exams use the Cambridge English Scale (approximately 160–230), corresponding to CEFR levels C1/C2. For Chinese test takers, these certificates are like a one-time 'English proficiency stamp': high difficulty, long preparation time, but once you achieve C1/C2, the result is permanently valid and highly regarded. They suit students with a solid English foundation who plan to study or work in Europe long-term and want a score that never expires. Note that some US institutions and immigration programs do not directly accept them, so always verify before applying.

Preparation tips
Systematically improve vocabulary and grammatical precision targeting CEFR C1/C2; practice Use of English extensively; focus on genre and formality in writing; the speaking test is a paired interview, so practice interaction and elaboration.
Common mistakes
Assuming the certificates are universally accepted without checking; losing points in Use of English; failing to interact with the partner in the speaking test; underestimating the difficulty of C2.
